NTEU 280 strongly supports “No Fear" Bill (S. 201)

 

There are few more important rights for EPA employees than the right to be free to speak the truth without fear of retaliation by superiors.

 

This right is sometimes a matter of life and death for American citizens.  If a chemical is a threat, people need to be able to hear the expert opinion of an EPA staff member.  That person should not be placed under a gag order or threatened with retaliation.

 

It is also critical that we curb waste and corruption.  “Whistleblowers” who see waste and corruption must be free to tell the truth.

 

This bill also further strengthens the protection of EPA employees against  vicious acts of racial discrimination.

 

This bill has passed the House and has recently emerged from the Senate Government Affairs Committee.

 

It is crucial that this bill be passed by the Senate as soon as possible so it can be turned into law before the close of this  session of Congress.
